Highlights:
- Some projects require out-of-town travel; some don’t.
- You will be reimbursed for all out-of-town travel engagements.
- We compensate freelancers half their hourly rate for time spent on out-of-town travel.
- Oftentimes, flexible arrangements can be worked out between our freelancers and our clients (see examples below). We encourage this.
Some of our projects require out-of-town travel, depending of course on where you and the client are both located. All else being equal, we try to find projects for freelancers that are local to them, but that doesn’t always work out.
To date, we’ve had projects in the following cities:
- Chicago
- Atlanta
- Los Angeles
- St. Louis
- Miami
- Nashville
- Vancouver
- Houston
- Washington DC
- Dallas
- Jacksonville
We’re going to continue expanding to other major markets.
So let’s talk about out-of-town travel in a bit more detail. Here’s how it works with Beech Valley.
Finances
We compensate our freelancers half their hourly rate for any time spent on out-of-town travel. We assume that you value your time, and so we compensate you for every hour of time spent away from your family.
You put all travel expenses on your own credit card, and we reimburse you for them on a bimonthly basis. Just include those expenses on your invoice with your billable time. Note that we process payment on all invoices the day after receiving them, so you’ll be reimbursed promptly.
Flexibility and Duration
Most out-of-town engagements last around 2-3 months. Sometimes they have the possibility to get extended.
It varies project-to-project, but most of our projects require minimum travel of Monday through Thursday, and sometimes Monday through Friday. Oftentimes, our freelancers are able to eventually work out flexible work arrangements. For example, they may travel one week, and then work remotely the next.
